REAL WEDDINGS - MILES & SARAH
A Disney-Inspired Couple That Chose To Have Their Reception In The Magical Kings Room.
Following an engagement in Disneyland Paris in early 2020, COVID-19 struck, and a lockdown was introduced, making a wedding date somewhat of a lottery for Sarah & Miles. But, love prevailed, and after the birth of their daughter, they were finally able to have their ceremony in April 2023. We finally managed to catch up with them, and here's what they had to say.
Q. So, Miles & Sarah, where did you two meet?
A. We met at a Jubilee Street Party of mutual friends 8 years ago.
Q. And where did you guys get engaged?
A. We got engaged in Disneyland Paris in March 2020, a week before we got locked down.
Q. When did you get married? Was there a reason you chose that date?
A. We got married April 14th 2023. It was originally planned for 9th April 2021, and we liked the fact it was springtime, so we wanted to keep it around that date. We had to cancel our wedding a few times as lockdown was extended, but we finally had our special day in April 2023 with the added bonus of having our little girl there who was born in February 2022.
Q. What made you choose the Kings Oak?
A. So our theme was “Happily Ever After Party”, which tied in with our Disney engagement. We only had parents, grandparents and Bridesmaids at the small Ceremony in the day and wanted a Celebration Party in the evening rather than a Classic Wedding Breakfast.
The Kings Oak was the first place we visited, and we said yes on that day. It reminded me of a secret garden, as from the outside it looks like a lovely traditional pub and when you go in, it’s very fairytale. This fitted really well with our theme and I just loved the feel of the place. It looked so beautiful on the day, beyond our expectations. Everyone commented on how fairytale it looked.

Finally We're 'Mr & Mrs'
Q. How was your wedding meal, and what did you choose?
A. We chose a buffet as we wanted it to be more laid back. There was plenty of food and to this day, we still get comment on how lovely the prawns were. We are looking to go back and try them on our wedding anniversary as we both didn’t get a chance on the day due to how busy we were.
Q. What are your most precious memories of your special day?
A. Our favorite part of the day was when we were announced into the venue. We hired a side room to sit, whilst everyone who had attended the ceremony and all our guests were welcomed into the Kings Room.
Our Guests arrived at 6pm and we were announced in as “Mr & Mrs” shortly after. It was lovely seeing all our family and friends there and we got to go around the room and have a chat with everyone which was very special. We also decided to do a last dance as opposed to a first dance which was another special moment.
Q. One for the Bride, we would love to have some details about your dress and your bridesmaids?
A. My dress was Sophia Tolli and I picked it at ‘Gillian Roberts Bridal’ in Eltham. I originally wanted another dress and the only stockists were Gillian Roberts, who was coincidentally right by my old primary school. This felt like fate at the time, as I live in Essex now. I am so glad I found them as they were so lovely and helpful in there. Especially in regard to cancelling the wedding and then changing my dress after I had my little girl.
I had 7 Bridesmaids. I searched for so long for a light blue dress for them all and in the end found ‘Closet De Chanel’, which specialises in Multiway dresses, which I knew would be the perfect choice for 7 Bridesmaids who then had the chance to wear the dress as they wished. I was so pleased with these dresses and felt they added to my fairytale theme.

Q. One for the groom, what is the background to choosing your best man and groomsmen?
A. Miles had my Dad and his Dad as groomsmen but no best men.
Q. How was the evening entertainment (was it a DJ, live band, singer, a mixture of both)?
A. We had a DJ provided by The Kings Oak. We did do our own playlist, and he followed this lightly and improvised. The dance floor was full all night, and we were very pleased with him.
Q. If you could do one thing differently, what would it be and why?
A. I think we would have had the ceremony at the Kings Oak to save the travelling from Brentwood. But overall, we were so happy and found the day so perfect that I wouldn’t like to change too much. Oh, and we would try the prawns!
Q. Anything else you would like to add?
A. We just want to give a big Thanks to Kings Oak for our special day being so perfect.
Special thanks to Paula who got us through all the cancelled lockdown weddings, and eventually we got our special day. We loved the venue and are so glad we chose it.REAL WEDDINGS - MILES & SARAH
